In Team Fortress 2 your main goal (if you are trying to make money) is becoming rich while spending a minimal amount of money.

Things you will need:
Premium Team Fortress 2 Account (buy something from the shop anything really.)

Paypal account with a Bank account.

Items in your inventory.

Warnings Do not try scamming anyone! No one likes to be scammed and you will easily get caught! Keep in your mind that sharking and scamming is not the same thing.

At all phases you must be careful and check if the hat you’re buying is clean*!
Do not rush a trade, it is just common courtesy.

Do not ask people for item donations, asking for donations is very unprofessional, and could cause you to lose any amount of reputation that you might have had on that server.

Do not trust anyone before checking his reputation! Use sites like Steamrep.com to determine if a persons reputation.
People have reputation on their profiles as well, which can easily be faked. To know if the profile reputation is legitimate, check if it was written by different people in different times and how old the reputation is.
(I personally never use profile reputation because I believe that it can be easily faked.)

Here is an example of a clean profile click hereClean – Hats that do not have a mark of them being gifted, uncraftable, or expiry date. Some hats may not be craftable even if it’s not written in their description, use your friends or third-party sites to help distinguish between them.

How to Start a Trade
To start a trade all you have to do is right click on a player’s username and click “Invite to Trade”, and through the game you can click on Items tab, go to trading, and invite the person of interest.
Once inside the trade window you will see your inventory, you can drag or double click items to put them in your part of the trade.
You will be able to chat with the person you’re trading with in the trade as well. Before accepting double check the trade to make sure everything is as it should be.

How to act.
When speaking to a person, always show respect as this will add to  your trade relations with a person. When you have reputation you want to be known as a polite and respectful, and not a rude slob.
When someone sends you a trade request you should ask him what does he need politely.
I personally say: “Hello” or ” How may I help you?”.When you send someone a trade request you should say what you need from him.
I personally say: “Hello” and “Are you still selling it?”. What not to say: “Put x in trade.”

When you don’t like someone’s offer you should tell him you’re not interested in his offer.
I personally say: “Sorry, but that seems a bit low for me, how about you add X?” or “Sorry but this does not appeal to me.”. What not to say: ” Are you kidding me? mine is worth at least xxx while your crap is worth xxx.”

When you like the other person’s offer you should say that you like his offer.
I personally say: “Yup, that’s fine.”. What not to say: “Aww Yeah manggg this be dope.”

When someone doesn’t like you offer and he asks you to add more you should tell him if that’s fine with you or the deal cannot happen that way.
I personally say: “Sorry but this is the best I can do” or “Alright, I can add X more Y’s”.

When someone likes your offer you should tell him to trade with you.
I personally say: “Alright, let’s trade”.

When you finish the trade but you had no deal you should tell the other person that it’s alright with you, and make sure he is not insulted.
I personally say: “Thank you for your time” or “Have a great day good luck trading!”. What not to say: “Thanks for wasting my time…”.

When you finish the trade successfully you should give a compliment to the person.
I personally say: “Thank you for the trade! Have a great day!”. What not to say: Leave rep here http://www.notarealwebsite.com.”;
Don’t be afraid to ask him for mutual reputation, as this is a key part into building your reputation.

You will want to create a reputation thread on a trading website like Sourceop.com ( but remember that you can only give reputation to a person that you found on that website or else it invalidates your thread.)
In short don’t be rude, always be courteous and respectful. Never talk like this: ” Plz g1v3 m3 1t3ms 1′m a n00b.” That will get you no where and it will make you sound childish and unprofessional.Thank you for taking time to read this and good luck!

  1. I believe your guides are somewhat helpful but they have little range for those who understand nothing about TF2. Although I do enjoy your writing, I feel you focused more on how to profit off the game than rather playing the game. Do you even lift?

  2. Although I played team fortress 2 before, I never knew there was so much more things that I can do: make money, trading, premium bank account, etc. I thought team fortress 2 will be like counter strike without the chance of making money by trading. But I am far more interested in the examples of how I should act toward the community. It shows that if you want good business, you have to have good manner and reputation.

  3. This post was very informative and full of great tips. As someone who has never played before, I was wondering if the only thing you do in the game is trade? And what are hats? Anyways, great blog! If I wasn’t so busy playing Neopets, I’d try this game!
